Looking for a Luxury Newborn Photographer?
Let’s break down what a luxury newborn photographer is. There are a few types of newborn photographers out there and there are different ways that they interact with you, the client. A luxury photographer is one who will make you feel cared for and walk you through everything step by step.
One of the ways to know if someone is a luxury newborn photographer is by looking at their website. Is it well planned out? Is is clear and easy to find what you’re looking for? Do they have beautiful portraits that capture how beautiful newborn babies are? That is a great first step in to knowing if the photographer is high end or not.
The next step is communication. Most luxury newborn photographers will call you on the phone or email you right away once you contact them through their website. On that first call or in that first email, they’ll explain in detail their process and how they go about planning the session, care for your baby and the end result, whether that’s digital images or products.
Though there are some luxury newborn photographers who will offer only digital images, for the most part most high end photographers want to help you by selling gorgeous wall art, heirloom quality albums and prints like you’ve never seen before! One of my favorite parts about interacting with my clients is helping them choose stunning wall art that will hang on their walls for years to come. When clients hold the final products in their hands there is no better feeling for them or for me!
When talking to the photographer, a good idea is to ask them what kind of props they use. You can tell quality props when you see them, and most Luxury Newborn photographers have quite a stash (we won’t call it an addiction, ok?) of newborn props, blankets, headbands, bonnets and baskets. There are always trending props, and your photographer might have them, but make sure to let them know what style and color you’re looking for so you won’t be disappointed.
Does your photographer make a point of talking about safety? To me, this is a sure sign of a luxury newborn photographer. They know what they’re doing, they have training to make sure they do it correctly and do it in the safest way for your baby.
Another good idea is to look at reviews. Not just on their website, but on Google and on Facebook. You can tell a lot by what people have to say about their experience and determine if the person is or is not a luxury newborn photographer. It’s not just about the actual photos, but about how well others were treated and if they felt comfortable and well taken care of. To me luxury=pampered and that’s what I try to do for my clients. One of my favorite things to do is pamper new parents by making sure to have a lot of snacks during the session. New moms and dads are always so tired and frazzled that they forget to feed themselves. That’s just a little way to show them I care and take care of my clients.
It feels a little obvious to say, but an easy way to see if you found a luxury newborn photographer is by looking at their pricing. If they have a session fee for a hundred dollars or so with everything included, chances are it’s not going to be a luxurious experience! You want to look for someone who has a high price of all inclusive (meaning digitals included) or a session fee that’s a few hundred and all prints and products are sold separately. I personally do the latter option. Clients who come to me spend anywhere from $1,500 to $3,500 or more, all depending on what it is that they want to walk away with.
Everyone wants to have the best experience when it comes to newborn photography, but not everyone can afford to hire a luxury newborn photographer. It’s also not just about peoples budgets, but what’s important to them. To me, photography is the most important thing and what I spend the most money on when it comes to luxury items. Some people would rather spend that money on travel, jewelry or cars. And the great thing is, that’s what makes the world go round!
