Outdoor Family Session
Fall is here and everyone is talking about which photographer they’re using for their outdoor family session. The colors of the leaves, the cool weather and all the yummy textures in warmer clothing makes for beautiful family portraits! So the question still remains, which photographer will you use for your outdoor family session?
What are things you should be looking for in a photographer to make sure you’re happy with this years outdoor family session? First of all, make sure that you feel like you understand what the photographer is offering. Is it a full session? A mini session? Are digitals included? Will they edit all the photos? As we’ve discussed in the past there are so many different ways to run a photo session and you want to make sure that you understand how this outdoor family session will run.
When I offer outdoor family sessions, I usually limit it to my existing clients, but will sometimes make exceptions. They run the same as all my other sessions as far as pricing and products go. There is a session fee of $250 with all prints and products and digital images sold separately. Prints start at $190 and go up from there depending on size and material. I offer many gorgeous heirloom products and everyone ends up falling in love with something!
Outdoor family sessions differ then my indoor family sessions in that they are more interactive and have a lot more movement. I think of my indoor portraits sessions as more formal. Both sessions will end up with gorgeous images to choose from, just very different style. Outdoor family sessions have more dancing, laughing and running, whereas indoors we can do plenty of laughing, maybe a little dancing, but definitely no running! Lol!
If you have a bigger family or just more active kids, an outdoor session might just be the best idea for you. Your kids can just be their crazy cooky selves and once they get all that energy out we can stop for a couple minutes and get that gorgeous family portrait with the stunning fall colors in the background.
As with indoor portrait sessions I’m here to help you figure out what everyone should wear to the session. I have an ever growing client closet (I even started getting stuff for bigger kids!)and I’m happy for you to use it! You can’t go wrong with beautiful fall colors like rust, cream, olive green, mustard and browns. If you want to do something different, go for it! Make sure that you are mixing colors, pattern and texture and that everything coordinates.
If you want to look for clothing on your own, I actually did a couple reels last fall on shopping for a fall photoshoot. Check it out and see if that helps give you some ideas on what to look for. You can also go shopping, pick out choices and then show me the options and I’ll show you what looks best. I’m all about being there for you every step of the way!
Once you have the session time booked we can pick a location together. We want to make sure that the leaves are still on the trees and vibrant in color. We also want the location to work for you and your family. Some locations have additional fees that the client is required to pay for where other locations are free. It all depends where you want to have your outdoor family session.
After the session is over we do exactly the same as any other session. We have the client reveal about a week later and you pick the images and products you want to purchase. Then you’re all set and you just sit back, relax and wait for your heirloom products to arrive so you can enjoy them with your family for many many years to come!
