Last week I featured a Newborn session, and this week I’d like to show you a Washington DC Maternity Session!! I love shooting in this area of the country, since it’s so close to my Silver Spring studio. It’s fun to be able to branch out and photograph in different spaces. And work with different people all over the East Coast!
When this expecting mama reached out about shooting her photos, I was really excited to work together. She described a chic, classic style she wanted to accomplish with her outfits. But she was also interested in playing with some flowy dresses and wraps.
We started the shoot with a floor length black body-con style dress. It hugged all her mama curves, and showed off that bump so well! We paired it with a long gold chain with tassels, to add some texture to the photo.
The next look was a classic black bralette and denim style. I like how much this accentuates the bump! We went barefoot for this pose, because it felt right to fit the lived-in vibe.
The next outfit in this Washington DC Maternity session was a flowy floral dress!
I loved the green ivy look of the pattern over the sheer skirt. It was a big flowy dress with lots of gathers in the skirt, that led up to a bodice top with off the shoulder sleeves. We paired it with a heavy chain of pearls. Which is a nice maternal nod, while keeping with the theme of the dress. I’m such a fan of the long dresses in my maternity sessions. Here’s another one I love!
The last look we did was an ombre wrap!! This was a cool extra feature to her gallery to had some elevated, editorial mom looks!
