Are you planning your newborn session, and wondering why newborn sessions take so long? I totally understand! As a Silver Spring newborn photographer, I know booking and planning a newborn session can feel overwhelming. I mean, you have just welcomed a new little life into this world! It’s exciting, scary, beautiful, and nerve-wracking all at the same time. You and your little one are my priority above all else. I want everyone to feel safe, welcomed, and excited about this big moment.
Why Do Newborn Sessions Take So Long?
Safety First
Your baby’s safety is of the utmost importance to me! I want to make sure we are not rushing anything. From posing to wrapping, holding, and changing your little one’s safety is what is most important to me. I want to ensure that in any position we put your baby in, they are safe and secure. I don’t want the worry of safety to be a concern for you.
Listen To Baby
Your baby is going to want to poop, pee, eat, cry, sleep, and do everything and anything they want. And that’s okay! It’s expected, it’s normal, and it is absolutely okay. This is probably one of the main reasons newborn sessions take so long. They are newborns, and there isn’t much we can expect from them after all. What we can do is take time for them. We will listen to their cues and help them feel comfortable. If that means changing a few diapers, stopping for feedings, or holding them for an extra cuddle, we will do just that.
Posing
Another reason newborn sessions take so long? We pose everyone! There are a few different poses we run through, and this takes time. We will pose individual parents with the baby, parents with the little one, siblings and the entire family, and of course, the baby alone. To keep everyone safe, we take our time and make sure every detail is carefully ironed out. Don’t forget any outfit and prop changes. Those take time, and that’s okay, too!
Calm, Relaxed, Comforting Vibes
One of my main goals during your newborn session is to keep a very calm and relaxed vibe in the studio. You are never going to feel stressed out from me rushing you or the baby or pushing you to do anything you’re not ready to do. Newborn sessions take so long because I want you to feel safe, relaxed, and stress-free. You deserve to enjoy every moment, and more importantly, enjoy your baby!
